Seriously cool business cards!

I have to say, coming across this idea for business cards just made my day.  I immediately thought of how brilliant Stampin' Up!s crumb cake card stock would be for this project.  Its the perfect colour!

Its from the very clever Kelly Rowe over at the Live Laugh Rowe blog.

Now the way I see it, a design can be made using Stampin' Up!s My Digital Studio, how cool is that? Then the design can be exported over to Word or better yet, Publisher, to make up your cards.

Print them out, make a little nick in the sides and put a little Stampin' Up! ribbon or twine on them and hey presto!  Very cool business cards!

If you need to order products for this project, you can email me:  theinkery@outlook.com or click on this link to ORDER ONLINE

Happy paper crafting!

My studio space

Last night I received a lovely email from one of my ladies, along with a picture of her crafting space.
And how she can't wait to receive her order to start playing in her new workspace….That got me thinking about today's blog post.

To have a dedicated nook or room to craft in is just the ant's pants.  This equates to no more whining from the men in our lives, when we take over the dining room table….OK, hands up who is guilty of this?  My other half calls it my craft crap!  Grrr.  So I took over the spare bedroom (which in my case is in our bungalow, which means even more peace and quiet, and no whining!  Lol.  For me, it also means relaxing in my own little crafty world.  On goes the radio or iPod dock, for some working tunes and off I go.

Last week, after work, I gave my studio quite a makeover.  I made a bigger work area on one of my trestle tables and re-organised everything (except the dreaded wardrobe storage space, that is a whole other day of tidying.)  I wanted everything that is used most, within hand's reach….and a quick scoot of the office chair across the carpet to access those things a bit further away.  In the first picture is my main work area. From right to left:  In this area is little wooden drawers from IKEA which hold bakers twine and seasonal cards.  On top of that there is drawers of sticky stuff - glue dots, dimensionals, etc. Then there is my ink pads and re-inkers in a cute little vintage shelf unit (courtesy of Tyabb Vintage Shed).  In the little white spice rack you will find my double sided tape, Cropadile tool, Stampamajig, glues, adhesive remover, etc.  I have a container for pens and bone folders.  And another one for rulers, scissors, piercing tools (AKA Mr Pokeys).  Next to that is another vintage pidgeon hole rack (Tyabb Vintage Shed again!), which holds sponges, sponge daubers, little jars of punch shapes, twine spools, Stampin' Scrub cleaners and piercing mats too.  On top of that is cute jars of Washi tape, ribbons and other twine.  And finally on the left is my gorgeous ribbon rack, courtesy of my father in law Les.  He is very handy with timber and made this for me (OK, I did do the routing to hold the ribbon rods, am pretty proud of that).  My Stampin' Scrub cleaner is always on my left, ready to keep my stamps in tip top condition.

On the left of my main desk, is another trestle table.  This holds my scrap paper boxes, my overlocker, paper trimmer, paper craft magazine holders and completed cards too.  On the wall is a cute little rack which holds some tools - hole punches, hammer, steel rulers, etc.  Underneath is storage for market stock and display items.

I have higher trestle table near the window which is at a perfect height for me to use my Bigshot and cut up paper using my guillotine.  Underneath is another cabinet which stores card stock, scrapbooking papers, Bigshot dies and embossing folders.  On the left of that is a drawer unit which stores my punches.

And finally…..the dreaded storage cupboard.  I took the sliding doors off the wardrobe…they were just in the way!  Much easier access to my crafting stash.  In this higgledy piggledy stash you will find my stamp collection in the pine bookshelf - soon to be culled, so stay tuned for a STAMP SALE!!  In the black drawers are adhesives, embellishments, heat embossing supplies and tools, markers and pens, sponges, spray bottles, stamping wheels and other assorted gadgets.  On top of that are filing drawers, filled with envelopes, card bags, paper bags, tissue papers, specialty papers.  The shelf unit on the right has my catalogues, order forms and business papers, spare card stock and miscellaneous crafty bits.  Somewhere in amonst all this is a huge roll of hessian and fabrics too!!  Yep, I also sew!

So there you have my studio space.  I love this room.  For me, I love nothing more than a couple of hours of paper crafting…it satisfies my creative need and empties my mind of some of the clutter I build up (a thousand and one ideas running through my head at any one time usually).

I hope you liked the little peek into my world…

Organise your Craftroom with MDS!

This week there is a nifty new download from My Digital Studio, which helps to organise our craft rooms.  Now as I type I am looking at my craft room with a rather red face and a sense of horror is creeping in.  You see, after I have a really busy crafting session in my studio and I have pulled out every toy and goodie I have (a bit like a child let loose into the toys in their bedroom scenario) - well my studio always ends up looking like a small tropical storm has swept through it.  Cyclone Jodie!

I really do try to keep it tidy and nearly every week brings another cleaning spree in there and it is back to new!  What I find really helps is STORAGE and LABELS!  I have little spots for most things, well nearly all.

So this week's MDS download could really help me……LABELS!  Print them out…..stick them on and get organising!

Here is a screen shot I took of the newest downloads…..

Here is the link to the ONLINE STORE, if you wish to know more information.

Happy organising girls!!

New Wood Mount cases!

News just in this week, for all my fellow wood-mount stamp lovers……new Wood Mount cases are coming in the new catalogue!  Squeal!

This has just been announced on Stampin' Up's You-Tube…..stampinupvideo

Here is the video, just click to play:

These will provide a much needed neater storage solution for our beloved wood mount stamp sets.
It also looks like blank cases may be available, so your older stamp sets can be transferred to the new style cases.  Then a new insert could be created by just stamping the images on to it and inserting it into the sleeve!  There is some talk of a template that is available, to use for this.

As the new catalogue draws near, I will let you know of any new snippets of news that comes my way!

Have a great day,

Jodie x

My Digital Studio…..what fun!

Get creative on your computer!

How?

With My Digital Studio… or MDS.
MDS is Stampin' Up's new digital product and it has just been launched in Australia.  It has been hugely popular in the US for some time.  It comes in the form of design software and it gets you creating a range of exciting digital projects. These include cards, scrapbook pages, photo book layouts, calendars, tags and loads more using Stampin' Up's own colour range and images.

Here is a quick little video, explaining all about MDS:

This morning I downloaded the free trial of MDS…….just to see what I could make with it.  What fun!  It is quite easy to navigate and I can see projects being developed using MDS and traditional Stampin' Up! products…….the possibilities are endless!  Think along the lines of personalised cards, party items, scrapbooking pages, plus loads more too.

Here are a couple of quick projects I put together this morning…..

First of all, a card front...

And then a quick scrapbooking layout….

I love that I can make a quick project and then it can be emailed off for a birthday or just to say hello!
Or even head into Officeworks or the local printer for a professionally printed image…..or maybe a photo book for someone special?

And now that MDS has launched in Australia, more and more embellishments, stamp images, papers and lots more will be available to add to your program.

Even better, there is a 30 day FREE TRIAL available here:  MDS 30 day free trial

Just download it (it is rather a large file) and start creating!

Hope to hear if anyone has given it a go….

Thanks,

Jodie x

Easter goodies

After a busy Easter in the garden, I have finally had a chance to sit down and tinker away on my laptop.  The cool mornings and fine days have been the perfect time for getting odd jobs done, but to my horror, no time for crafting at all…..not a good thing!

A couple of weeks ago I held an Easter project class, so for those who couldn't make it…….here are the projects we made on the day:

Top left:  a cute little egg box with water coloured bunny.  We used the Stampin' Up Watercolour Wonder Crayons in Subtles  (Page 157 - $29.95), along with an Early Espresso Stampin' Pad (Page 156 - $9.95) and of course, an Aquapainter (Page 178 - $19.95 for 2 painters).

Top right:  Single egg box using the Mini Milk Carton Bigz L die (Page 194 - $55.95) and an Easter tag, using the Two Tags Bigz die (Page 193 - $37.95)

Bottom left:  Make your own packaging!  We used a cello bag with the Top Note Bigz die (Page 193 - $37.95), to create our own unique Easter gift bag.

Bottom right:  Easter card was made using the Labels Collection Framelits (Page 191 - $45.95) and Summer Starfruit Ribbon (Page 172 - $13.95).

(ALL IMAGES were made using the Everybunny stamp set (Page 25 - $48.95 (Wood) $38.95 (Clear)
and Stayzon Ink pad (Page 157 - $13.95) )

I hope all of you enjoyed a safe, happy and fantastic Easter!

Take care,

Jodie x

Last day of Saleabration…..

It's over for another year…..Saleabration.  Such an exciting time of year, with free goodies galore.

To commemorate, I have a card that was created while I was helping out one of my ladies with ideas for her first ever workshop!

Butterflies and banners….

Using my all time favourite card stock (yes, I know……so predictable - Crumb Cake)  as a backdrop,
I used strips of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (from Saleabration 20130 and used a square punch to make the banner ends.
Butterflies were made using the Elegant Butterfly punch, with Pool Party and Rich Razzleberry card stock.  Brads from the Brights Collection were used to embellish the butterflies, which were adhered using Dimensionals.

Here is a product list:

Crumbcake card stock           (121685)  $11.95
Pool Party card stock             (124391)  $11.95
Rich Razzleberry card stock  (119981)

Sycamore Street DSP  (2013 Saleabration stock)

Elegant Butterfly punch          (127526)  $27.95

Brights collection Brads          (119740)  $11.95
using Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry brads.

Stampin' Dimensionals             (104430)  $6.95
Snail adhesive                          (104332)  $11.95

This card could be adapted to include masculine pattered papers, making it suitable for a male card.
Instead of the butterfly ( I don't think any man I know would like this…..hehe) a Square punched piece of paper could be used in a diamond shape or use the Curly Label punch for a different shape.

I hope everybody enjoys a lovely weekend…

2013 brings an exciting crafty new year!

2013…..

Its the start of a new year and of course I am busy putting together ideas for many crafty months to come.  January always brings a fresh outlook on everything in my life….no new year's resolutions really, just my life evolving in better ways.  Always a good thing, right?  I have been busy in my craft studio, working on some new ideas for projects and also busy on the laptop, creating some new worksheets for my class girls.  Oh, and a class schedule…..time to dust off the diary and pencil in those class dates!

This fortnight, I have a couple of birthday cards that need sending out….as I liked this one so much, I will send it to both people!

What do you need to make it?  Please email me for the project recipe card……

Happy crafting...
