Seriously cool business cards!

I have to say, coming across this idea for business cards just made my day.  I immediately thought of how brilliant Stampin' Up!s crumb cake card stock would be for this project.  Its the perfect colour!

Its from the very clever Kelly Rowe over at the Live Laugh Rowe blog.

Now the way I see it, a design can be made using Stampin' Up!s My Digital Studio, how cool is that? Then the design can be exported over to Word or better yet, Publisher, to make up your cards.

Print them out, make a little nick in the sides and put a little Stampin' Up! ribbon or twine on them and hey presto!  Very cool business cards!

Happy paper crafting!

My studio space

Last night I received a lovely email from one of my ladies, along with a picture of her crafting space.
And how she can't wait to receive her order to start playing in her new workspace….That got me thinking about today's blog post.

To have a dedicated nook or room to craft in is just the ant's pants.  This equates to no more whining from the men in our lives, when we take over the dining room table….OK, hands up who is guilty of this?  My other half calls it my craft crap!  Grrr.  So I took over the spare bedroom (which in my case is in our bungalow, which means even more peace and quiet, and no whining!  Lol.  For me, it also means relaxing in my own little crafty world.  On goes the radio or iPod dock, for some working tunes and off I go.

Last week, after work, I gave my studio quite a makeover.  I made a bigger work area on one of my trestle tables and re-organised everything (except the dreaded wardrobe storage space, that is a whole other day of tidying.)  I wanted everything that is used most, within hand's reach….and a quick scoot of the office chair across the carpet to access those things a bit further away.  In the first picture is my main work area. From right to left:  In this area is little wooden drawers from IKEA which hold bakers twine and seasonal cards.  On top of that there is drawers of sticky stuff - glue dots, dimensionals, etc. Then there is my ink pads and re-inkers in a cute little vintage shelf unit (courtesy of Tyabb Vintage Shed).  In the little white spice rack you will find my double sided tape, Cropadile tool, Stampamajig, glues, adhesive remover, etc.  I have a container for pens and bone folders.  And another one for rulers, scissors, piercing tools (AKA Mr Pokeys).  Next to that is another vintage pidgeon hole rack (Tyabb Vintage Shed again!), which holds sponges, sponge daubers, little jars of punch shapes, twine spools, Stampin' Scrub cleaners and piercing mats too.  On top of that is cute jars of Washi tape, ribbons and other twine.  And finally on the left is my gorgeous ribbon rack, courtesy of my father in law Les.  He is very handy with timber and made this for me (OK, I did do the routing to hold the ribbon rods, am pretty proud of that).  My Stampin' Scrub cleaner is always on my left, ready to keep my stamps in tip top condition.

On the left of my main desk, is another trestle table.  This holds my scrap paper boxes, my overlocker, paper trimmer, paper craft magazine holders and completed cards too.  On the wall is a cute little rack which holds some tools - hole punches, hammer, steel rulers, etc.  Underneath is storage for market stock and display items.

I have higher trestle table near the window which is at a perfect height for me to use my Bigshot and cut up paper using my guillotine.  Underneath is another cabinet which stores card stock, scrapbooking papers, Bigshot dies and embossing folders.  On the left of that is a drawer unit which stores my punches.

And finally…..the dreaded storage cupboard.  I took the sliding doors off the wardrobe…they were just in the way!  Much easier access to my crafting stash.  In this higgledy piggledy stash you will find my stamp collection in the pine bookshelf - soon to be culled, so stay tuned for a STAMP SALE!!  In the black drawers are adhesives, embellishments, heat embossing supplies and tools, markers and pens, sponges, spray bottles, stamping wheels and other assorted gadgets.  On top of that are filing drawers, filled with envelopes, card bags, paper bags, tissue papers, specialty papers.  The shelf unit on the right has my catalogues, order forms and business papers, spare card stock and miscellaneous crafty bits.  Somewhere in amonst all this is a huge roll of hessian and fabrics too!!  Yep, I also sew!

So there you have my studio space.  I love this room.  For me, I love nothing more than a couple of hours of paper crafting…it satisfies my creative need and empties my mind of some of the clutter I build up (a thousand and one ideas running through my head at any one time usually).

I hope you liked the little peek into my world…

Organise your Craftroom with MDS!

This week there is a nifty new download from My Digital Studio, which helps to organise our craft rooms.  Now as I type I am looking at my craft room with a rather red face and a sense of horror is creeping in.  You see, after I have a really busy crafting session in my studio and I have pulled out every toy and goodie I have (a bit like a child let loose into the toys in their bedroom scenario) - well my studio always ends up looking like a small tropical storm has swept through it.  Cyclone Jodie!

I really do try to keep it tidy and nearly every week brings another cleaning spree in there and it is back to new!  What I find really helps is STORAGE and LABELS!  I have little spots for most things, well nearly all.

So this week's MDS download could really help me……LABELS!  Print them out…..stick them on and get organising!

Here is a screen shot I took of the newest downloads…..

Here is the link to the ONLINE STORE, if you wish to know more information.

Happy organising girls!!
